Electrical Safety Protection Device For Escalators And Moving Walkways

      In order to protect the safety of passengers, engineers in the escalator and automatic sidewalks set up a variety of electrical safety protection devices, the main electrical safety protection devices and common location shown in Figure 1.

 
    Their types and functions are as follows:
 
    1. Emergency stop button
 
    The emergency stop button cuts off the power supply of the escalator and the moving walkway, causing the device to stop immediately. Emergency stop button is generally red round button or red mushroom head type, see Figure 2. The emergency stop button is usually set at the entrances and exits of escalators and moving walkways. If escalators or moving walkways are long, one or more emergency stop buttons are also installed in the middle of the equipment. In the event of an emergency, if the equipment is running abnormal sound or vibration, passengers fall, clothes or foreign body involved in the case, etc., by pressing the button unconditionally stop the equipment immediately to avoid or reduce the damage. Emergency stop the equipment is running, it should also notify the property and maintenance personnel as soon as possible to deal with, to protect passengers and equipment safety. Of course, in non-emergency situations, it should not be pressed to press the emergency stop button to avoid causing the passengers to panic or cause the passengers to fall due to an instantaneous speed change.
 
    2. Other electrical safety protection devices
 
    Escalators and moving walkways are devices with high intelligence levels that automatically trigger the following electrical protection devices when abnormalities are monitored.
 
    (1) step or pedal chain protection device. Generally installed in the bottom of the pit chain tension, when the chain is too loose or broken, the device can stop the equipment running.
 
    (2) step or pedal sag protection device. When the step or pedal is bent or broken, the unit will cause the device to cease to operate in time to prevent the passenger from falling or falling into the equipment due to an abnormal rung or pedal.
 
    (3) step or pedal missing safety protection device. When a rung or pedal is detected, the device can stop the device from running in time to prevent the person from falling into the device from the gap.
 
    (4) comb protection device. A comb-shaped plate is a comb-like component that is in close contact with a step or pedal at the inlet and outlet to prevent the foreign matter on the step or pedal from entering the inside of the device. Once the foreign body or passenger limb is carried by the step or pedal into the comb, the comb plate position is moved and the comb guarding device installed under the comb plate stops the device.
 
    (5) apron plate protection device. The apron plate protects the inside of the apron plate. When a foreign body or passenger limbs are caught between steps or pedals and apron plates, the apron is deformed to trigger the device to stop the device.
 
    (6) handrail with entrance protection device. Handrail with the entrance protection device installed in the handrail with the entrance. The protective device stops the device when a passenger's hand or finger is caught in the handrail inlet.
 
    (7) overspeed and reverse protection devices. Under normal circumstances, the device is running at the set speed and direction. Under the influence of a malfunction or external factors, the equipment may experience a sudden overspeed or reverse condition, causing personal injury to the passenger. At this point, the device will immediately stop the device from running.
 
    (8) handrails with speed devices. The handrail belt is an important guarantee for the stability of the body when the passenger is on board. Under normal circumstances the handrail speed is equal to or slightly higher than the speed of the step or pedal, when the failure makes the handrail speed significantly lower than the speed of the step or pedal, the protection device can stop the operation of equipment to prevent people fall.
 
    (9) floor board to open the protection of safety devices. In the escalator and automatic sidewalk entrance and exit for passengers to stamped the fixed cover, known as the floor board. When it is opened or not properly installed, the device can stop the normal operation of the equipment, to prevent passengers involved in the operation of the equipment and cause harm.
 
    The application of the above electrical safety protection device can effectively reduce the occurrence of accidents, can also effectively prevent or reduce the accident may cause damage to passengers.
